Event Description: Gallery I | M | A is pleased to host an evening of Artist Talks with Ruth Borgenicht and Sam Chung! Each artist will speak for approximately 30 minutes, including time for questions. Light refreshments will be provided. RSVP if possible, although not required.
About the artists:
Ruth Borgenicht investigates ideas of permanence and defensive concealment utilizing the inherently fragile medium of clay. Creating a fabric of movable interlocking rings, she constructs various intricate forms that take shape through multiple firings.
Sam Chung approaches the vessel with an interest in challenging perceptions of what is familiar versus what is new. By examining relationships between fine art, traditional craft, design, and architecture, he allows his work to merge historical/contemporary and cultural influences, most notably, in reference to Korean art and design.
This event is concurrent with the two-person ceramics exhibition, "There Is No Beginning, There Is No End", featuring new works from Ruth Borgenicht and Sam Chung. The exhibition will be on display November 2 - December 2, 2017.
