2026 Grants
This year Washington Clay Arts will be awarding $11,750 in grants to help foster equitability, innovation, and ceramic community. There are no pre-conditions on how these grants are to be used by the recipients.
These are not merit based awards, and are not based on artistic excellence. Washington Clay Art membership is open to all levels of interest and ability in Clay.
Grants restricted to WCA Active members
Important Dates for All Grants:
July 1st - Applications Open / Deadline to become a Member to be eligible
September 1st - Applications close
Early October - Grants announced
Grant 1: Under Representation Grant
Open to all Members who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ or any combination of these groups including Black, Indigenous, People of Color, Latinx, Asian, Native American, Pacific Islander
Two awards at $1250 each
Examples of requests can include, but are not limited to: Disaster Relief, Education, Establishing a Business, Studio Needs, Supplies
Grant 2: Living With a Disability
Open to all Members who live with a disability
Two awards at $1250 each
Examples of requests can include, but are not limited to: Accessibility Equipment, Disaster Relief, Education, Establishing a Business, Studio Needs, Supplies and Studio Assistance
Grant 3: Open Impact Grant
Open to all Members
Three awards for $1250 each
Examples of requests can include, but are not limited to: Disaster relief, Education, Establishing a Business, Studio Needs, Supplies
Unrestricted Community Building Grants
Three grants are open to any Individual or Group in Washington State. These grants do not require membership in WCA
Three awards for $1,000 each
Any individual or group who is building community in clay in-line with the WCA mission is eligible to apply for a grant to further these efforts.
Our Mission:
The WCA is open to all Washington ceramic artists, and is dedicated to furthering awareness and appreciation of the clay arts.
We promote access to all types of ceramic arts, and the exchange of knowledge and skills between our members and with all ceramic artists.
The WCA strives to be a welcoming, vibrant community; a trusted reference; and a resource for Washington clay artists.
To Apply:
Eligibility:
To apply for a restricted grant, you must be a WCA Member as of Grant Announcement date: July 1st, 2026. WCA membership is not required to apply for a Community Building Grant.
Must be 18 years of age or older by application deadline: September 1st, 2026.
Must meet the requirements of the individual grants as listed above.
Previous grant recipients are not eligible to apply.

Artist Statement or Studio Mission Statement - 50 Words or Less
Artist Biography or Studio History - 150 Words or Less
Statement of Intended Use for Funds - 300 Words or More - budget breakdown is encouraged
1 image Work Sample or Community
Decisions on recipients will be decided by the WCA Grant Committee.
Decisions the selection committee will take into account:
The potential progress and impact the award would have on the artist’s life
Clarity of vision and project
The potential benefit of the award to the ceramic community
