2023 Grants
This year the Washington Clay Arts will be awarding $10,000 in grants to help foster equitability, innovation and ceramic community. These grants are unrestricted, and there are no conditions on how they are used by the recipients.
These are not merit based awards, and are not based on artistic excellence. Washington Clay Art membership is open to all levels of interest and ability in Clay.

June 1st - Applications Open
August 1st - Applications Close
Announcements - Early October
Grant 1: Under Representation Grant
Open to all Members who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ or any combination of these groups
Grant Amount $2500
Examples of requests can include, but are not limited to: Disaster relief, Education, Establishing a Business, Studio Needs, Supplies
Grant 2: Living With Disabilities
Open to all Members who live with a disability
Grant Amount $2500
Examples of requests can include, but are not limited to: Accessibility Equipment, Disaster relief, Education, Establishing a Business, Studio Needs, Supplies and Studio Assistance
Grant 3: Open: Impact Grant
Open to all Members
Grant Amount $2500
Examples of requests can include, but are not limited to: Disaster relief, Education, Establishing a Business, Studio Needs, Supplies
Grant 4: Community Clay Studios
Open to any Community Clay Studio in Washington State, not restricted to membership
Grant Amount $2500
This grant is intended to grow the clay community in Washington State. Any organization that is providing shared community space for ceramic work is eligible to apply.
In return for the grant money, the WCA is asking that the awarded Ceramic Studio host an open house within one year of receipt. The open house would be open to the WCA community. The WCA would help with organizing, advertising and providing refreshments for the event.

Eligibility
A WCA Member as of Grant Announcement date: June 1st, 2023 (Except for the community studio category.)
18 years of age or older by application deadline: August 1st, 2023
And, must meet the requirements of the individual grants above
Artists may only apply to one category per year
Materials to Submit
All materials should be submitted via our submission form
Artist Statement or Studio Mission Statement - 50 Words or Less
Artist Biography or Studio History - 150 Words or Less
Statement of Intended Use for Funds - 300 Words or less
3 Work Samples or for Studio Submissions 3 examples of existing or proposed community space
Decisions on recipients will be decided by the WCA Board. Information on the current Board can be found here.
Decisions will take into account:
The potential progress and impact the award would have on the artist’s life
Clarity of vision and project
The potential benefit of the award to the ceramic community
