Do you like to wood-fire? Or have you always wanted to try? Now's your chance--with Tara Wilson leading the way!
THE FULL DETAILS:
Stephen Robison at Central Washington University has generously offered us use of the campus train kiln, and invited Tara Wilson to come lead the firing. Due to limited kiln space, and to offer a worthwhile and intimate firing experience, we will randomly draw the names of 10 participants.
Deadline to put your name in the virtual hat is April 30th. Drawing will take place on May 1st via live-streaming video.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW:
Thursday, May 31st: Load the Kiln
Friday, June 1st: Fire the Kiln
Sunday, June 3rd: Unload the Kiln
Your WCA membership must be current to be included in the drawing for this opportunity. Click here to join now.
This is a full participation workshop, you are expected to be present for load and unload, and to work a firing shift--to be determined on loading day.
Workshop Cost: $100 per participant. Bring approximately 4 cubic feet of work, made from Cone 10 clay. All liner-glazes and flashing slips should be applied before arrival (no glaze on exterior--the ash and flames will decorate your work).
Since this workshop coincides with our summer social, there will be activities planned around Ellensburg for WCA members--including free making demonstrations with Tara on Saturday.
Tent camping space have been reserved at the Kittitas County Fairgrounds for the nights of May 31st-June 2nd.
Click here to visit our SUMMER SOCIAL page for full event schedule and camping sign-up.
