Washington Clay Arts Association (WCA) formed in 1983 as the Washington Potters Asosociation to promote better communication for potters across the state. WPA renamed itself to Washington Clay Arts Association in 2008. The organization is a fantastic resource for the Pacific Northwest ceramic community
Membership in the organization is open to everyone interested in clay. Members are usually Washington Staters. I was honored to serve three terms as President and two as Vice President while living in the Seattle area and subsequently was awarded lifetime membership. (Maria spies
The WCA was featured in the May-June 2003 issue of Pottery Making Illustrated. The WPA (old acronym) and the Pacific Northwest pottery scene were the subject of 2 articles and the editor's column in the issue.
